Electric stoves

Electric stoves are a relatively new branch of the stove business and are generally steel or cast iron boxes with an electric effect mounted  into them with a fan heater underneath.  The flame effect is not usually as realistic as the wood or gas burning versions although some models are now using LEDs which is improving the overall effect.

Electric stoves are the ultimate in convenience, just plug in, set the required temperature and then sit back and relax!

Gas stoves have a fixed coal or log effect display, and range in efficiency between 70 to 80%. Gas stoves are suitable for customers who like the stove format but prefer the convenience of instant heat from gas, or those who have limited storage space for wood.

It’s important with gas appliances to make sure your fitter is Gas Safe registered.  We have a list of fitters we work with regularly who are certified Gas Safe and Hetas registered – pop into the showroom to pick up a copy.

Wood energy is CO2-neutral

Wood is the world’s most climate- and environmentally friendly raw material. Among other things because heating with wood is CO2-neutral – unlike fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas. As such, heating with wood does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Wood does not generate more CO2 when burned than when it decomposes as part of its natural cycle in the forests. When utilising wood energy, fossil fuels become unnecessary.
